Cell Phone Boosters Eliminate Dropped Calls

If you are like the average American household, you find that you use your cell phone a lot. You also know just how frustrating it is to be using your cell phone, walk two or three steps, and have the call dropped because you lost the signal. The good news is that this is not something that you merely have to accept as part of the cellular phone experience. These days you can significantly reduce the number of dropped calls by installing a cell phone booster in your home.

The great thing about mobile phone boosters is that they make great gifts, especially for those people who seem to already have everything. Everyone has dead spots in their home and will love the fact that they can use they now don’t have to think about what sections of their home they can wander through when they are on talking on their phone.

The great thing about cell phone boosters is that they are not service provider specific. The cell phone boosters are simply looking for any cell phone signal. Once they find a signal from the satellite, they magnify it. This means that even families who use two or three different carriers will still be able to use the same cell phone booster.

When you set up the cell phone booster, you shouldn’t be concerned if you don’t notice any change in the amount of signal your cell phone picks up right away. It takes a little bit of time for the cell phone booster to warm up and locate cell phone signals. You should give the booster about a half an hour, after that it should be good to go and you should be able to use your cell phone anywhere in your home, or backyard.

Computing While on the Go

When you walk into a coffee shop it is easy to wonder if anyone actually uses their computer’s at home. It seems like everyone has their computer plugged in and is bent over their keyboards. People love the fact that they can go anywhere and still use their computers. As a result, the computer companies are constantly working to create computers that  are easy to take along with you no matter where you go.

If you are someone who likes to leave home and take you computer with you, you already know just how bulky and cumbersome even laptops can be. Not only do you have to make sure that you have your laptop, you also have to worry about making sure you bring your cord, your flash drive, and if you hate the touchpad as much as I do a mouse. Hauling all of this around is not easy.

If you are constantly on the go, you are going to want something smaller, lighter, and more durable than the laptop you are currently working on. You are also going to want a computer that doesn’t have any moving parts. Now you just have to decide if you should get a netbook or an ultra-book.

The great thing about the ultra-books is that they have really great displays and they are a bit lighter than mini-laptops. The problem is that they can be quite expensive. Most people are hesitant when it comes to dragging an expensive piece of equipment to places where it could get stolen.

Netbooks are a bit larger, the display is good, but not quite as big as an ultra-book, and most models aren’t capable of doing quite as many things as the ultra-book. On the other hand, the netbooks have been around longer and have more of the bugs worked out, and they are very sturdy, plus they are usually more affordable.

When it comes to choosing between the two you are going to have to consider your lifestyle, and how hard you are on your electronics.

Getting the Most from Your Cell Phone’s Battery

It seems like no sooner have you unplugged your cell phone and it needs to be plugged back in. Since there isn’t always an outlet or USB port handy, knowing the things you can do to help extend the life of you cell phones battery is very important.

Unless you don’t know where you are, you really don’t need to have the navigation system or GPS turned on. Most people don’t even realize that these features are on, but the chances are good that they are. Switching the app off when you aren’t using it can easily add a couple of hours of life to your cell phones battery.

The next biggest drain on your cell phones battery is the Wi-Fi. The odds are good that you shelled out the extra bucks for a smartphone just so that you could have access to the internet anytime that you wanted. The smartphone means that you don’t have to worry about missing an important email and you can update to your social networking sites whenever you want. However, do you really need to keep your Wi-Fi turned on all the time? The chances are no. Instead of running it constantly and draining your battery, you should only turn it on when needed. Since many things can be done by text message, you might find that you can go days without turning on the Wi-Fi. You’ll also be able to go a lot longer before you lose power to your phone

In addition to shutting off the nav system and the wireless internet, make sure you power down you Bluetooth when it isn’t in use. This will also save you battery time. Unless you are expecting a really important phone call, you should just shut your phone off while it is charging. Not only will this help your battery charge faster, it will also give your phone a much needed break, and might extend the amount of time before it needs to be replaced.

Technology Is Great, But Where Is My Hoverboard?

I happened to see a post on a friend’s Facebook today about the movie Back to the Future. In the movie they set the time machine to travel to today’s date in the future, June 27th 2012. On the radio today, I heard the host say that there was a new robot type lawn mower that would cut your grass for you while you enjoyed some lemonade on the deck. A couple of weeks ago I was at a friend’s house and she had a robot vacuum that would just travel from room to room vacuuming, and then it would return to its little charging station.

All that to say this: Where is my hoverboard? Seriously. In Back to the Future, Marty McFly steals a kid’s hoverboard in the year 2012. I know they (they being the collective scientific mind of the technology world) some some kind technology they are keeping in the closet in order to pull an Apple on us. You know how Apple releases something cool; people line up and camp out for days to get it. Then in two weeks they release the successor to that ‘outdated’ technology. So where is my hoverboard?

We have robots to mow our lawns and clean our houses. Granted, they are not exactly like Rosie from the “Jetsons”. Still, I want to keep and open mind about this. We’ve only recently gotten mass-market touch screens, which I can’t use still because apparently I am old and outdated. I just think that was we were promised and what we actually got from the technology revolution is somewhat distant. I just want my hoverboard, and I don’t think that is too much to ask from a people who put a man on the moon and made the Macbook Pro.

Your Mobile Phone is an Entertainment Center

Stop and think what life was like prior to mobile phones; we were reliant on phone booths and home phones for making calls. The only form of wireless voice communication was by radio. The advent of mobile phones began an advance in technology that is still marching forward today. Watching some of the old TV shows like Kojak gives you an idea of what the first mobile phones were like; they were big and bulky. The only thing early mobile phones were capable of was transferring sound; there were no smart phone until years later.

The mobile phones of today are a far cry from the original; today our phones are capable of doing everything a computer can do. In essence, today’s mobile phones are hand-held computers small enough to fit in a shirt pocket.

Ok, so you have a smart phone for business. Don’t waste your phones talents by using it only for business purposes; your smart phone is a whole entertainment center right there in one small package. I have to admit to being a bit of a technophobe but even I have found my options for fun on my smart phone are unlimited.

My favorite fun activity on my mobile phone is finding bingo sites and playing free games. I don’t consider myself an expert by any means but I do have oodles of fun finding new bingo sites and trying them out. After learning how to use my phone to its full capacity, my entertainment budget is nil.

The best sites I have found lately are both new this year; rogersbingo and bingostreet. Both of these sites are a blast! I can log on from anywhere; at least anywhere with WiFi or other connectivity. I can play on the bus, I can play on the plane (unlike Alec Baldwin, I follow the rules). I can play bingo while my husband drives a couple hundred miles extra because he does not believe in GPS. My phone really is a great source for entertainment.

About the two websites I previously mentioned; what is it about them that makes them my favorites? Two factors make Rogers and Street the sites I play most often: amount of free games available and the quality of the websites themselves. When you visit these websites you are greeted by great graphics and a plethora of free games. These sites feature not only bingo for free but other free casino games as well. There is no end to the fun you can have at absolutely no cost to you other than monthly phone charges.

Today’s mobile phones are smart and a great source of entertainment.

Take the Hassle Out of Smoking

We live in a fast paced world and we are always searching for ways to make daily life more efficient. It seems that nearly every aspect of society operates in a fast paced environment these days. From fast food to drive through laundry pick up services, people are always excited to find the little short cuts that can save time and take the hassle out of regular tasks. One of the biggest time wasters of Americans is smoking. The average smoker will spend several hours of their day standing outside having a cigarette. What if there was a way to eliminate these smoke breaks without cutting the nicotine that people crave?

Thanks to some of the newest technology to hit the market, this is now possible. New smokeless cigarettes created by companies like South Beach Smoke and Smoke51 are giving smokers back the hours they once spent on their nicotine fixes. Electronic cigarettes are battery operated and release a vapor mist instead of smoke. There is no flame and no odor when you smoke an electronic cigarette so you can use it indoors without leaving any trace of evidence behind.

Now smokers can enjoy a quick fix of nicotine in the office, in the car, or even in the mall. No more huddling out in the cold when you need a smoke break during the harshest part of winter. The electronic cigarette is sold in smoke shops, service stations, and online. With more nicotine levels than traditional tobacco cigarettes, smokers have a never-ending supply of option when they are trying to gradually reduce their nicotine consumption.

Electronic cigarettes are also available in a variety of flavors. Instead of the standard full flavored tobacco or menthol options, now smokers can choose from sweet cherry, delicious coffee, or savory chocolate. There are literally dozens of flavor cartridges to choose from when you switch to electronic cigarettes.

Smokers also report that they save a lot of money by making the switch. According to the Bloog Review, the average smoker spends $5-6 on a pack of tobacco cigarettes. When you switch to e-smoking, cartridge refills average around $2 and provides the same amount of smoking time as a full pack of tobacco cigarettes. With a savings of around $3 per pack, the typical pack-a-day smoker, will save over $1000 each year by switching to electronic cigarettes. There are also many websites that offer e cigarette coupon print outs which can be used on the initial starter kit purchase.

If you are a smoker who would like to save some money and enjoy a hassle free smoking experience, it’s time to check out electronic cigarettes. Most companies offer 100% money back guarantees so you have nothing to lose in trying these new products.

A New Way to Use Your Smartphone

Everyone has a cell phone, and well over a million of the cell phones that people are currently using are some type of smartphone. The advantage of the smartphones is that they can be used so access the internet. Even though the smartphone can be used to do lots of internet related tasks including updating your social networking sites, watching videos on YouTube, and surfing the web, the truth is that when it comes to using the smartphones for many internet related activities, the smartphone is not perfect. The biggest problem is that it doesn’t seem to matter how good your data connection might be, the cell phone still doesn’t access internet pages quickly enough.

Just because your cell phone doesn’t access the internet very well, it doesn’t mean that you can’t use it to replace your current internet provider, saving yourself the money you currently spend on internet. All you have to do is tether your phone to your computer. Doing this allows your computer to access the internet to access the via your phones signal. Some tethering apps are designed to work via a USB connection and others are designed to turn your cell phone in a wireless hotspot.  Once you have done this you will find that you can do pretty much whatever you want online, and, provided you are connected to the internet on your computer works just as fast as it did when you were using a more traditional internet provider.

If you are interested in tethering your phone to your computer, you do need to know that there are some carriers who have worked with Google to block this feature on your Smartphone. If you have a contract with AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile you will find that your phone will not allow you to download the tethering app. However there are also some carriers that may not allow it by policy, but do not actively block it.  Ultimately, you will need to do some digging to find out what is available as an option for your particular phone.
